Prime Minister Edi Rama has wished a Happy Liberation Day to all Albanians.
In commemoration of this day, the heads of state pay homage at the National Cemetery in honor of the martyrs of the National Liberation War.

Several other activities are scheduled to take place today to be capped by a festive concert otherwise known as the White Night in the “Skënderbej” square.

Politics is split over celebration of this date. Left-wing parties observe November 28 as Independence Day and November 29 as Liberation Day, while right-wing celebrates both holidays on November 28.
From April 7, 1939, Albania was under the fascist occupation. After the capitulation of Italy in the fall of 1943, the country is occupied by German forces.

At the end of November 1944, after the liberation of Tirana, a significant part of the cities in the north were also liberated. The liberation of Shkodra also marked the day of the liberation of Albania from the German occupation.
