The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, shared the example of young Gerlad Usuni on social media.

“Kalaja guesthouse in Libohovë, through the story of Gerlad, who returned to his homeland after six years of emigration in Germany, has turned his home near Shanisa Castle into a prime example of hospitality. It not only offers delicious dishes from the restaurant’s menu but also provides cozy accommodations with stunning views of the castle and Doftisa Lake. Today, Libohovë and its surrounding villages present remarkable opportunities to harness their potential for sustainable tourism practices that generate employment and turbo-charge local economic growth,” writes Kumbaro.

Gerlad Usuni shared, “A year and a half ago, I made the decision to return to Albania after spending 10 years in Germany. My experience abroad wasn’t what I had expected, so I chose to come back to my homeland. I took the initiative to invest in my home, located near the Libohovë Castle, and transform it into a guesthouse. With my culinary experience in Germany, along with the help of my family to prepare traditional dishes, we began welcoming visitors from near and far, offering them our variety of dishes and cozy accommodations in the guesthouse rooms.”

Usuni highlighted the growing demand for labor and encouraged young people to take advantage of the opportunities in Libohovë’s tourism sector, contributing to the area’s revitalization and the country’s development. /k.s/j.p/sm/
