Mayor of Lezha Pjerin Ndreu reacted by sharing footage of the young people destroying the monument.

“‘Highland Lute’ in Lezha—on the very soil of Gjergj Fishta! Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!” wrote Ndreu.

The “Highland Lute” monument honors the work of the national poet, Father Gjergj Fishta. In its original form, the monument resembles a giant, open book, carved with verses and symbolic elements; it serves as an important urban and cultural landmark for both residents and visitors.

TIRANA, May 30 /ATA/ Chairman of the Socialist Party, also Prime Minister Edi Rama praised the Socialist Party’s role in Albania’s transformation. He urged members to take pride in their contributions to the nation’s progress over the past three and a half decades.

During the meeting held in Lezha on occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Socialist Party foundation, Rama said that the socialist government has changed Albania’s position in the international arena and has brought the country closer to realizing the historical objective of European integration.

The prime minister said that the Socialist Party represents a European and civic Albania, not in the geographical sense of the word, but in the system of values it supports.

He emphasized that the Socialist party has consistently avoided political retaliation, rising above personal attacks to foster a more constructive discourse.

According to him, “Humanity defines the Socialist Party and sets it apart from all political rivals.”

While citizens have valid criticisms of the government and the Socialist Party, it stems from their high expectations of us. Albanians feel the impact of our mistakes, but they continue to back us because they view us as the most capable alternative for the country’s future, concluded Rama. /a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, April 8/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the new Regional Hospital of Lezha today, where he met with senior medical staff.

Accompanied by Minister of Health and Social Welfare Evis Sala, PM Rama oversaw the hospital’s recent investments, focusing on the development of the chemotherapy unit.

Minister Sala said that the hospital underwent a full modernization in 2025, integrating advanced, cutting-edge equipment.

“Lezha Hospital has upgraded its regional impact with a new infectious diseases service and fully standardized, QSUT-aligned chemotherapy treatment, elevating regional healthcare to national standards”, said Sala.

The minister also said that, “We are bolstering the healthcare sector with a pay rise for over 22,000 doctors and nurses”.

Sala emphasized that plans are underway to relocate the Lezha Hospital’s outpatient services to a dedicated, modern facility, with investments slated for 2027.

Rama praised this initiative while emphasizing that hospitals managing general outpatient services are often overloaded, losing operational focus due to high daily volumes.

The prime minister also emphasized that bringing oncology services to regional hospitals is a wonderful advancement, ensuring that cancer treatment is accessible, dignified and closer to the patients’ support networks.

The prime minister informed that June’s budget review will add emergency doctors to the specialist category.

Rama emphasized that the significant rise in salaries is a direct consequence of substantial economic growth.

The prime minister particularly praised the service provided at the Lezha hospital, for which he stressed that there had been no complaints.

According to him, Albania has very good doctors, but the problem remains management.

In this regard, Rama stressed that financial autonomy does not solve everything, but creates a very encouraging and motivating basis.

The prime minister stressed that another step that should be taken in the future is the establishment of tariffs for foreign tourists. /j.p/p.s./

In his speech, Berisha focused on the situation within the party as well as the confrontation with the government.

On the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the DP affiliated branch in Lezha, Berisha said that this day is “a clarion call to accomplish our mission”.

According to Berisha, the government has zero legitimacy, while emphasizing that Prime Minister Edi Rama “has stolen mandates by all means”. Berisha also said that, “Judiciary must not to be blocked”.

“An illegal government is not tolerated, but overthrown”, said Berisha, while adding that the DP “believes in power through free votes and through peaceful means”.
