TIRANA, Feb 6 /ATA/ Lending to economy reached a value of ALL 45 billion in December last year.

The data of the Bank of Albania showed that the value of the new loan increased by 47.7% compared to the same period last year.

According to BoA, for the entire year 2023, the loan reached the value of 319 billion lek, an increase of 14.5% compared to 2022. The annual growth of the fresh loan also improved significantly compared to the level of 5.3% in the previous year.

Experts think that the slowdown in the increase of interest rates last year has driven a growth at relatively high credit rates.

The Bank of Albania increased the base rate only twice during 2023 and this indicator remains at the level of 3.25%, among the lowest in Europe and significantly below what is estimated to be the neutral interest rate, which means that interest rates still stand in a stimulating environment.

TIRANA, June 29 /ATA/ Lending to the economy increased in May this year.

Bank of Albania announces that the value of fresh loans disbursed during May 2022 amounted to ALL 21.6 billion, recording an increase of 10.8% compared to May last year.

For the first five months of the year, the value of fresh credit increased to ALL 110.8 billion, an annual increase of 31%.

Fresh credit is at its highest at least in the last seven years, confirming a positive performance, despite the increased risks to the economy associated with high inflation.

Lending performance is positive across all major segments of the market and is proving a steady growth base. Private enterprises are the main contributors to the growth of fresh credit disbursement this year.
