The news was announced on Tuesday by the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, who emphasized that 5,200 families will benefit from this decision.

“Beginning today, 5,200 families will receive compensation as part of the legalization process, with a total amount of 30 million euros allocated by the Albanian government to complete a portion of this process,” said Manja.

According to him, a total of 9,667 entities have applied and have been compensated to the extent of 70% for the legalization process from 2010 to 2024, and this year they have applied for the remaining 30% of the compensation.

“This concerns 5,200 cases of former land owners whose land was occupied by informal constructions. Up until now, they have received five instalments at the extent of 70%, and the sixth instalment will be provided as compensation from the state budget. The process starts today and will be completed by Thursday. Each of the 15,000 individuals will have the compensation credited into their bank accounts,” said Manja.

The minister announced that out of 9,667 files submitted since 2010, only 5,200 files will receive compensation this year, as the remaining files had incomplete documentation. Beneficiaries of this fund also include all religious communities.
