In a media statement from the seat of the Assembly, Balla also said that “in the coming days we will outline the package of ‘de-espionization’ as part of the efforts to address the pressing need to purge Albanian politics and other institutions from former – state security co-workers.”

“Today, at the parliamentary group meeting, we discussed the 2 bills that are in progress. The first is the law on Authority for Information on State Security Files, where there will no longer obstacle to double checking even those who were previously vetted by the commissions established by 1995 law, Bezhani-Mezini,” said Balla.

The other issue, according to him, “is about the provision in the Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania, whereby all candidates can apply to the Authority and be verified no later than 70 days before the election processes.”
