The agreement was pre-signed by Olta Manjani, the Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation and by Daina Fromholde, the Senior Expert of the Social Insurance Department at Latvia’s Ministry of Welfare.
The agreement ensures a wide range of benefits for Albanian citizens, including old-age pensions, family pensions, and disability pensions. Additionally, it guarantees the consolidation of contribution periods, allowing citizens to retain their years of work and benefit from social insurance in both countries.
Since 2005, Albania has signed a series of agreements in the field of social insurance, including with Turkey, Belgium, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Romania, Kosovo, the Confederation of Switzerland, and Croatia.

Agreements with Montenegro and Bulgaria are also expected to come into effect.
At the same time, agreements with Poland and Serbia are in progress, while countries like Slovenia, Spain, Denmark, Moldova, and the United Arab Emirates have shown willingness to start negotiations.
