TIRANA, July 8 /ATA/ – Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha claimed Tuesday that the uproar over the demolition of illegal constructions in Theth National Park, Albanian Alps, was being used to cover up the environmental disaster in the cities of Elbasan and Vlora.

In a press statement, the opposition leader Berisha accused the government of seeking to divert attention by focusing on the “environmental crime of some containers” instead of addressing the catastrophe caused in landfill fires in Elbasan and Vlora.

He emphasized that the whole situation was invented “to distract people from Elbasan and Vlora, to deceive them, to cover up the terrible environmental crime committed, which is rooted in the ‘theft of the century’ – the incinerators in Elbasan, Tirana and and similarly in Fier.”

Berisha claimed that the builder of the unauthorized tourist village in Theth had been involved in plans to assassinate Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti, saying the government should have put a million lek bounty on his head to capture him.

“He is a criminal who, according to the ‘Metamorphosis’ case file, was engaged in plotting to execute Kosovo’s Prime Minister. Prek Kodra is said to have acted under orders from Vučić or the Vučić brothers. They cannot find him because he was warned and fled,” said Berisha.
