TIRANA, June 24  /ATA/ Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, paid a visit to Europol headquarters in The Hague, where he met with acting Executive Director Jürgen Ebner, as well as representatives of the agency’s specialised centres for combating organised crime and economic crime.

During the meeting, Lamallari said discussions focused on further strengthening cooperation between Albania and Europol, with an emphasis on combating drug trafficking, criminal groups, human trafficking, financial crime, and online fraud. Lamallari underlined that Albania is at a decisive stage in its European integration process and is increasingly demonstrating that it acts as a responsible and reliable partner, contributing to European security with the same level of commitment as EU member states.

“Close cooperation between the State Police and Europol, as well as active participation in joint operations, are concrete evidence of this commitment. We are coordinating efforts to take this partnership to an even higher level,” the minister said.

At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation between Albania and Europol, through information exchange, operational coordination, and the intensification of actions against organised crime in all its forms.

During his visit to The Hague, Lamallari also met with his Dutch counterpart, as well as the President of Eurojust.
