TIRANA, April 21 /ATA-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday that the government has a concrete investment plan to accredit laboratories for testing milk and its by-products.

Rama said that if Albania were currently a member of the European Union, the dairy sector would struggle to meet required standards.

“The entire chain must be guaranteed. I have seen some factories with state-of-the-art machinery that are certified in certain aspects, but the chain is incomplete. We must complete the entire chain,” Rama said.

He added that work should begin immediately with a gradual plan and a clear understanding of the steps required.

“This is also the state’s responsibility; it is not a separate exercise. It is not something for you and others in the sector to handle while we simply carry out inspections. Inspections are meant to support you, which is why we have developed a strategy under which they will not be punitive,” he said.

“They will not be missions of punishment, but a national mission, a joint effort.”

Rama said inspections should serve to protect the public interest while also supporting businesses that comply with the law but need to improve standards.

“Our laboratory capacities must be strengthened to better serve businesses, to be closer to them and better organised across the territory, so that analyses are not delayed for days. Border inspection points are another weak spot,” he said.

“We therefore have a concrete investment plan for accrediting laboratories, improving border inspection points and developing digital infrastructure to meet system needs and facilitate interaction with relevant entities.”

TIRANA, December 30 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that during the current year there have been taken positive steps in the education sector, especially in terms of strengthening the technology available to students.

At the end-of-year press conference, Rama announced that the number of schools equipped with smart laboratories has reached 350, while the government’s objective is for this number to reach 1,000 by 2027.

According to the prime minister, this investment will create an important and significant basis for the inclusion of children in technology- and science-oriented teaching.

Rama emphasized that throughout the country there is work underway for the construction and improvement of educational infrastructure. He also announced the launch of the school transport project with locally produced vehicles, which are expected to come into use starting from the next season, in 2026.

“This project will be extended into the entire territory to guarantee the transport of teachers and students, a service that has so far been provided through funding from the state budget for around 38 thousand students and 12 thousand teachers, based on the distances covered,” the prime minister said.

Rama also highlighted the fact that there is already signed the agreement for the “Smart City” project, which aims to increase security in educational institutions.

According to Rama, the project of the Franco-Albanian Lyceum of Innovation Sciences in Korça has made positive progress, with the preparation of the curriculum, the special draft law and the start of implementation of the building project in 2026. e.xh/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, December 22/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the Albanian government is undertaking a series of essential reforms to prepare the agricultural sector for membership in the European Union, by building an integrated system of administration, control and standards in accordance with the EU requirements.

During the activity “With Farmers in Albania 2030”, where there were presented the practical mechanisms for step-by-step preparation towards the EU, PM Rama emphasized that the government has started and will complete the construction of the institutional and technical infrastructure that the sector requires.

“We will create an integrated system of administration and control. We will finalize the national registers of farms, plots and animals. It is a work that has been started and we will finalize it”, said the prime minister.

Rama underlined that another important task is the complete construction of laboratories accredited according to European Union standards, necessary for guaranteeing food safety and product quality.

“We will build the EU-accredited laboratories. Today, we have a completely different level of analysis quality, but we need to complete the entire laboratory project,” he said.

The head of government also emphasized that the field advisory services system will be significantly strengthened, with special support from the Agricultural University of Tirana.

“We will push very hard for the advisory services system on the ground and we will rely in particular on the Agricultural University of Tirana, where we have every reason to believe that year after year we will have more and more skills to guide us on our path, i.e. the public sector and you as the private sector,” Rama stated.

According to the prime minister, if the reforms are implemented properly, the European common market will yield direct benefits to Albanian farmers.

“If we do the right things, the common market will be a blessing for you,” he said.

Rama’s statements come at an important moment in the European integration process. After the opening of the Chapter 5 Group at the 7th Intergovernmental Conference, Albanian agriculture opens a mew phase, where chapters 11 (Agriculture and rural development), 12 (Food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy) and 13 (Fisheries) are placed at the center of reforms towards membership in the European Union. /gj.m/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, April 7/ATA/ Albania’s Ministry of Education and Sports has begun providing science laboratories of biology, physics and chemistry, with new materials, an important investment that will enable better quality teaching for around 20 thousand students.

Thanks to this investment, 80 new science laboratories are being added to our schools.

Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu closely followed the process of equipment of the laboratories at the “Congress of Manastir” 9-grade school in Tirana, where the science laboratories have been equipped with didactic tools.

“We have managed to have a constant supply of schools with the necessary tools for the subjects of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics. We are already distributing laboratory equipment and all the auxiliary tools required to make teaching inclusive and to continue to enrich our science laboratories in the pre-university system”, said Minister Manastirliu.

This investment includes providing equipment to 80 biology, physics and chemistry laboratories in primary and secondary schools, creating an advanced environment to foster students’ scientific and experimental skills.

The STEM laboratories, i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics labs, are an important step towards modernizing the education system, giving students the opportunity to develop practical skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In addition to fostering creativity and collaboration, these laboratories help prepare students for the job market and for successful careers in fields that require scientific and technological expertise. /k.s/j.p/p.s./
