TIRANA, April 24 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Wednesday evening that the journalist of the Italian investigative program ‘Report’ aired on Rai 3 TV “has openly and flagrantly lied, misleading viewers by telling them that the General Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Engjëll Agaçi, had refused to respond to inquiries.”

The Premier said in a televised interview for the online streaming show “Metropolis” of the Italian newspaper ‘La Repubblica’ that the Secretary General had responded to all journalist’s inquires.

“I sought to contact the director of a public service in Italy. I called a number of Italian friends and one of them sent me his contact number. The fact is that I called the RAI 3 TV Director not to complain, although there is a lot to complain about this program, but this was not my goal. I wanted to talk to him and tell him something that is very grave, in my view, the very fact that the public has been misled by telling viewers that the version of the victim of this smear campaign, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Engjëll Agaçi, has been demanded. This version never made its way to the television. Te next day, this journalist appeared on an Albanian television to confirm the same thing, even to show his anger that this is something that should not be done, that the public deserves to listen to those who are in the government as well,” Rama noted.

Rama rejected as a blatant fabrication the claim made by the program that Agaçi had confirmed his involvement with drug traffickers in an email response.

“It seems to me that criminal defence lawyers don’t make a living by defending saints or angels, they also defend people who might be criminals too. What does this mean? How one can be labelled as the advocate of the traffickers?! François Miterrand has been a criminal defence lawyer and he has defended many individuals, but nobody has considered him a lawyer of the traffickers,” Rama said.

TIRANA, Jan 22 /ATA/ – Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” has recently published a story on Albanian tourism, as the country and its stunning natural beauties are increasingly attracting the attention of the international media and travel bloggers that are promoting Albania and its main tourism attractions and offbeat and most popular destinations for everyone to visit.

Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media on Monday to post the article by “La Repubblica, which notes that Albania’s tourist offer is key to development of the sector in the future.

“On the radar of La Repubblica that promotes Albania’s tourism model amid sustainable development, locally grown produce and traditional hospitality and the unique case of tourism development in harmony with the environment,” PM Rama wrote.

The government head said that more than 950,000 Italian tourists visited Albania last year.

“Over the last 10 years, the tourism sector has been a priority in Italy’s development cooperation strategy. The environment and sustainable tourism are important priorities for the Albanian government. Its naturalistic spirit, together with the sustainable approach, must be preserved in accordance with the projects carried out by the Italian Cooperation. The projects launched with Italy aim to contribute to the development of more than 15 natural parks and almost 800 protected areas that today represent 21.5% of the territory,” La Repubblica writes.
