TIRANA, Sept 22 /ATA/ Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi, stated on Thursday that “by the end of this term of office, teachers’ salaries will increase 40%.”

In reply to the allegations of the Democratic Party head, Sali Berisha, Minister Kushi said that teachers know very well and you know very well that teachers’ salaries in the previous term increased 32% and in the current term will increase 40%.

“We are committed to reaching this target and by the end of the term, salaries will increase 40%,” said Kushi.

Regarding the teachers’ portal, Kushi said that “On this portal the candidates are scored based on meritocracy and transparency. It is precisely this portal that gives the opportunity to your supporters to make their way up in education system based on the credits, and so far so good. If they rank first on the portal, they start work under a definitive contract. The cases are especially true for your supporters who have ranked on top places and have qualified for a definitive employment contract.”

“After the call of Berisha for protests, I have another invitation for you since tomorrow is the International Sign Language Day, I want to avail myself of the opportunity to break the news that for the first time the Institute of Students with Hearing Impairment will have a secondary school. For the first time, students with hearing and vision impairment will no longer stay at home upon finishing the 9th grade, they will move on to another level of education specialized in ICT, which will pave the way for them to integrate into society and also contribute to society,” said Kushi.
