“This beginning of academic year is an important moment for all of us, because it coincides with the end of the pandemic emergency that forced us into hiatus sacrificing many priorities in our lives. But together we managed to adapt in record time to the new restrictions and conditions. Even in the most difficult months of the crisis, we did not stay idle, but looked into all ways to move ahead with lectures, seminars, conferences and any other activity that is part of the university curricula,” says Kushi.

She underlines that “today thanks to the positive effects of the mass vaccination rollout, but also thanks to a higher personal and collective awareness to observe the protocols of health institutions, we are finally starting the new academic year with a physical presence in auditoriums,” while expressing satisfaction that universities have already taken all necessary measures to guarantee friendly and welcoming facilities and fully available for the students.

Minister Kushi reiterates the appeal to all the unvaccinated to get vaccinated in the future.

“We believe that the university does not only prepare professionals or scientists in various fields, but also the citizens of a society, who learn to be members of a community while respecting each other’s rights. And this is impossible to be achieved by standing in front of a computer screen or mobile phone, but only by interacting with your professors, peers and seeing each other face to face,” she said.

While stating that this year will be a new challenge also due to the major goals that have been set for enhancing the quality of higher education and for internationalization of universities, Minister Kushi expressed confidence that this year will be a unique experience in university life.

“I remind you that most of the genuine wealth we have, not only knowledge but also relationships, friendships, and even the feelings we carry throughout our lives, are developed in auditoriums, libraries, halls and all university settings. I wish you a successful academic year! ,” Minister Kushi concludes her message.
