PRISTINA, June 8 /ATA/ The Prime Ministerial candidate of Self-Determination Movement (Lëvizja Vetëvendosje), Albin Kurti, declared victory in the June 7 elections last night and expressed his readiness to cooperate with other parties that had previously been in opposition.

In a speech delivered to supporters at Skanderbeg Square, Kurti said that they would work to resolve the issue of the president.

Kurti stated that Kosovo lacks a fully functioning Assembly, criticizing opposition parties for obstructing the process.

He expressed optimism that the 11th legislature would be constituted following the certification of the election results, while signaling plans for dialogue and cooperation with all political parties in the coming weeks.

With the Self-Determination Movement, Kurti said that citizens are guaranteed good governance and that the state is in safe hands.

“The Republic of Kosovo lacks a functioning Assembly. Unfortunately, the opposition bloc is not showing up for work. The rest of us all go to work tomorrow morning at 8:00, and we are interested in ensuring that the opposition bloc also joins as soon as possible. Therefore, we hope that the 11th legislature will commence, which depends first and foremost on the certification of the election results.

Kurti emphasized that in the coming weeks, his team will engage and cooperate with all political parties, prioritizing the public interest and the service of a sovereign and independent Kosovo.

Kurti stated that there has been no challenge his government has not managed to overcome, including in circumstances that appeared insurmountable.

He said that Lëvizja Vetëvendosje has secured its fifth parliamentary election victory in less than seven years, citing wins in 2019, 2021, twice in 2025, and again in 2026. He described this as further confirmation that the current decade is defined by Vetëvendosje’s governance.

He added that across these five elections, “everyone competes, the majority votes, and we win,” and said the party integrates state and border security with the welfare of citizens. Kurti concluded that no difficulty has proven insurmountable, noting that objectives once considered unattainable have been achieved.
