PRISTINA, April 10 /ATA/ – Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was received by UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper at the start of his official visit to London.

Kurti thanked the UK for its continued support for Kosovo, stressing the strong and stable relationship between the two countries based on shared democratic values and commitment to European security and prosperity. He called the UK a key strategic partner and pledged to deepen cooperation.

Speaking on Kosovo’s economic priorities, Kurti cited budget growth and fair allocation, with technology and agriculture highlighted as key developing sectors. He also pointed to defense investments, joint exercises and cooperation with Great Britain to deliver training and support for Ukraine.

Kurti, addressing democratic development, welcomed the full and gradual enforcement of Kosovo’s Law on Foreigners. He said NATO and European Union membership remain strategic objectives, vital for ensuring the country’s long‑term security, stability and prosperity.

PM Kurti informed Secretary Cooper of what he described as ongoing threats from Serbia, backed by Russia, including the operation of 48 forward military bases near Kosovo’s border.

On dialogue with Serbia, Kurti reiterated three conditions for continuing the process: Serbia’s handover of Milan Radoičić, withdrawal of a letter by former prime minister Ana Brnabić, and signing of the Ohrid Agreement. He said Kosovo remains committed to full normalization of relations through a legally binding accord based on mutual recognition.

Kurti said Kosovo is a reliable partner for the United Kingdom and for regional security.
