He warned that constituting the Assembly without a deal on the presidency could result in the dissolution of parliament and trigger fresh elections.

Kurti said political dialogue on electing a new president must continue, arguing that constituting parliament without such an agreement could pave the way for its dissolution and fresh elections. He said his party has sought talks with the opposition since the election results were certified to ensure the full establishment of state institutions.

Kurti said talks with political parties had stalled partly because of developments within the LDK, adding that the remaining time had not been sufficient to reach an agreement. He said a deal on the presidency must come first before the formation of other state institutions can proceed.

Kurti said a prior agreement on the presidency would help ensure the functioning of state institutions and avoid fresh elections. Citing the previous political deadlock, he said forming parliament and the government without resolving the presidential issue had ultimately forced the country into another election.
