PRISTINA, Sept 13 /ATA/ Kosovo parliament has approved Kurti’s fourth government with 62 votes.

The new cabinet led by Albin Kurti of Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination Movement) was backed by 62 deputies, with eight against and none abstaining. The Self-Determination’s 53 MPs were joined by nine representatives from non‑majority communities — eight from non‑Serb minorities and Nenad Rashiq from the Serb minority.

In Sunday’s session, deputies from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance did not take part, while eight of nine MPs from the Serb List attended and voted against. The composition of the new cabinet remains unchanged from Kurti’s third government.

During his address, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said he would not present a new programme or agenda, arguing that the repeated elections had interrupted governance which will now continue into the new term. The composition of the “Kurti 4” cabinet remains unchanged from his third government.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti said Self-Determination Movement’s vision will focus on wellbeing and family protection. “This mandate is intended to restore security and welfare to citizens’ daily lives,” he declared.

Earlier in the day, the Assembly was declared constituted following the election of deputy speakers from the Democratic League of Kosovo and minority communities. The Democratic Party of Kosovo did not take part in the session, having already withdrawn Vlora Çitaku’s candidacy for deputy speaker.

Presiding over the session, Albulena Haxhiu said the parliament “cannot remain hostage to anyone, to any political entity.” LDK candidate Kujtim Shala was elected deputy speaker with 75 votes in favour.
