TIRANA, September 9 /ATA/ Ambassador of Albania to Israel Meri Kumbe said in an interview for “Euronews Albania” television that the Albanian students in Israel were treated with priority in the efforts for returning Albanian nationals to Albania.

She said that the situation in Tel-Aviv is a little calmer while there are heard less wails of sirens of alarm.

However, she added that the general situation in the country continues to be as tense as shown in the broadcasts in the international media.

According to her, there are no reports of any Albanians being near the Gaza Strip. The Albanian-Jewish community of Israel is about 630 people, the ambassador explained, while there are about 50 people employed in recent years.

“Since Saturday at 6:30 a.m. local time in Israel, we have been on duty assisting the Albanian nationals in Israel with all their needs, calling on them to keep calm, abide by security protocols as directed by the local authorities here and above all their return has started since that day. We advised them not to leave the “Ben Gurion” airport, but to look for other return tickets. There have been different ways of returning Albanian nationals to their homeland and here we are talking about Albanian tourists who were in Israel on holiday,” said Kumbe.

The ambassador said that they are not yet in the evacuation phase because the situation is not like that, but the assistance is continuous./r.e/p.s./
