TIRANA, June  28 /ATA / Albania, which boasts  natural, historical and cultural beauties, has become in recent years the attraction of choice for foreign tourists.

As a well-known tourist destination for many tourists from many countries of the world, Albania is increasingly attracting foreign tourists and visitors, who book tourist trips to different cities of Albania during the summer and winter season.

Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, announces that in the winter and spring season of this year the number of tourists has been impressive.

“The expectations are consistent with the figures because only in the winter and spring season the increase in the number of tourists has been impressive. In May, the number of foreign visitors is 604,430 and compared to May of a year ago, this number has increased by 83.9%, ” Kumbaro says on her social media account where she published a table of statistics.

Minister Kumbaro said that “the first 5 months of this year record +594 thousand more tourists than 2021, while now the tourist season is at its peak.”

Kumbaro emphasizes that “all measures are in place for the territory of the country to be clean and safe and to guarantee such a thing we are on the ground day to day.”

Specifically, in May 2022, Albania was visited by 1 667 691 foreign tourists, while in May 2021 it was visited by 1 083 601 foreign tourists.

Due to the long coastline, Albania offers stunning beaches, from north to south, such as Velipoja in Shkodra, Shengjin in Lezha, Durres, Vlora, Himara and Saranda, etc., which are visited not only by Albanians but also by foreign citizens,  who choose Albania as a tourist destination during the summer months.

Also, Gjirokastra, Berat, Butrinti, Kruja, Tirana, Shkodra, etc., are major destinations of historical and cultural tourism. Another attraction for foreign tourists are the Albanian Alps, where they marvel over the beauties they offer.
