TIRANA, June 14 /ATA/ The Albanian Power Corporation even this year started the work to clean up the garbage and plastics ending up in Lake Koman through the rivers. KESH has mobilized three ships that are working to remove waste.

Deputy Prime Minister, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku together with Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, and the Deputy Minister in charge of Energy at the MoIE, Ceno Klosi, joined the cleaning action undertaken by KESH.

Also, various volunteer groups have contributed to this initiative, to keep clean one of the areas that is being visited more and more by visitors.

Deputy Prime Minister Balluku pointed out that the measures taken by the local government in Albania, especially the municipalities that administer the bathing waters, have delivered a significant impact on improvement of the quality of waters. As for the situation in Lake Koman, Balluku announced that an agreement has been reached with the government of Kosovo to reduce the level of waste that end up in lakes through rivers.

“We have agreed on a joint action. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment of Kosovo will commit the fund for installing a cutting-edge trash capture barrier similar to a net, which will be managed by the Albanian side, KESH. Undoubtedly, there will be floating materials that are smaller, but at least the debris and plastics will be stopped from reaching the shores of the two lakes of Fierza and Koman “, said Balluku.

Minister Balluku said that KESH will continue the work to clean up the entire lake, cooperating with volunteer groups, emphasizing that thanks to the measures that will be taken, next year there will be less debris in lakes.
