The director of the Kruja Historical and Ethnographic Museum, Mehdi Hafizi, told the Albanian Telegraphic Agency that “in the first 6 months of the year, there was a high influx of local and foreign visitors to the museum.”
“Specifically, in the January-June period, the museum was visited by about 70 thousand local and foreign visitors”, said Hafizi.
Hafiz said that a large number of Polish tourists have visited the museum.
“Over 10,000 Poles have visited the museum in 2024, and seeing the upward trend, they will constitute the highest number of foreign visitors to this museum for this year,” emphasized Hafizi.
According to him, Portuguese tourists have also visited the museum.
“The number of tourists from this country is expected to be high this year with the launch of direct flights from Tirana Airport to Portugal,” said Hafizi.
The museum has aroused the interest of tourists from Italy, China, Spain, etc.
The National Museum “Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu” continues to be one of the most visited museums in Albania.

Italian tourists account for 35% of foreign visitors, who have toured the Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu National Museum in Kruja during the first quarter of 2024.

The “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” museum in Kruja continues to arouse the curiosity of local and foreign tourists even during this year.

In 2023, the “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” museum was visited by 110,162 visitors, of whom 50% were foreign visitors, 30% local and 20% pupils and students.

The “Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu” museum houses many authentic objects, documents and bibliographies or reproductions, which clearly speak of the history of the Albanian people in the 15th century and beyond./m.m/sm/

According to him, in September alone the two museums were visited by 8700 tourists.

“Most of the tourists are from Ukraine, Israel, Serbia, but even this year, Poles make up the largest number of foreign visitors,” Hafizi added.

The city of Kruja is one of the main destinations in Albania. As one of the cultural and historical heritage sites of this city, the Old Bazaar of Kruja welcomes visitors from Albania, the region and the whole world all year round.

The Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu National Museum was inaugurated on November 1, 1982 in the castle of Kruja. This museum also has the character of a memorial building that is considered as an Albanian tower of the North. The museum complex spans several sites, which are visited chronologically according to the events. This museum houses artifacts that belong to different historical periods, but some pavilions display the history of the early Middle Ages, the Albanian principalities, the Ottoman occupation and the battles of the Albanians against the Ottomans.
