TIRANA, July  12  /ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, during the meeting  with farmers in the village of Hoxhaj in Poliçan, stopped at the vegetable greenhouses of Jashari, to see first-hand the control of pesticides applied on plants, in compliance with the strategy for food security from farm to fork.

In this inspection, Minister Krifca was also accompanied by the director of the Directorate of Plant Protection, Valdede Buça, while the inspectors of the FSA and the National Agency of Plant Protection carried out sampling according to the standards in the greenhouse that was planted with pepper.

“We are intensifying our work in terms of implementing the best European practices, in terms of plant control, agricultural production, which guarantee high standards of food safety in the country”, said Krifca.

The minister informed that this process consists in checking the compliance of the preparations marketed by operators of plant protection products and pesticides, with the lists of preparations approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

“Together with the agronomists of the National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority, we are supervising and guiding the farmers in the greenhouse farms. We are inspecting the implementation of good production practices in completing the register of the use of plant protection products, or the farmer’s logbook”, said the minister.

Krifca stressed the importance of agricultural production according to food safety standards.

“It is important to produce by applying food safety standards, which allow us to track the food chain efficiently. This is how we guarantee high standards for consumers and high quality of Albanian exports that start precisely with the treatment of soil and plants with the aim of increasing the quality, the value of Albanian agricultural production and the income of our farmers,” Krifca said.
