TIRANA, Nov 13 /ATA/ Government policies encourage local and foreign business to invest in fisheries.
Frida Krifca, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, told ATA that “the epochal transformation of the approach to the blue economy and investments to create a brand new space for increasing employment, exports, come as part of the 2023 budget allocation for fisheries sector”.

According to her, the “Support for Fisheries” program focuses on sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture and the responsible use of fishing resources.

“We will finance the policies of the sector with a budget of 403 million ALL. 2023 will see the launch of the project “Support for the development of markets and maritime production (Blue Economy),”Krifca told ATA.
The Minister stated that the earmarked budget will ensure: Increase of anchoring capacity in the Port of Durrës, will facilitate the procedures of fishing vessels landing seafood in ports.

Also, the construction of new markets for fish products will increase the quantity, quality, safety and traceability of these products, making them more attractive both in domestic market and international markets.
Krfca said that “investments in the fisheries program aim to increase the production of fish products by 10-20% and exports by 60-70%”, adding that updating the software of the Register of Fishing Ships, according to European Union standards, increases fishing safety.

Reforms, support through fiscal policies and financing have resulted in a transformation of the fisheries industry. Currently, we record 130 million euros of exports in the fisheries industry, but the ambition is to exceed 200 million euros”, said the minister.
