TIRANA, March 8 /ATA/ Artisan women from several rural areas of Shkodra and Korça were invited on Wednesday to the lobby of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as part of an event held in cooperation with GIZ to promote success stories of the initiative for empowerment of rural women.

This meeting also wrapped up the first phase of the project for circulation and recycling based on aromatic medicinal plants and other household products, such as soaps and detergents made with great care and dedication.

Attendees at the event promoted their ventures of creating medicinal plant soaps and detergents.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, described all the women present as an example of how a rural development program (and like this there are many others) is applied to be inclusive, engaging and sustainable.

“I am happy that an idea can turn into a product, with social commitment that today has created 20 new business activities, offering self-employment and delivering an impact on the well-being of the families of about 100 residents of remote rural areas who, by harnessing what nature has created, and by adding the element of recycling, circular economy, are able to add value, to bring them back to the market, to do the best for ourselves and our family, ” said Krifca.

During a conversation with women from remote rural areas, after hearing their stories, Minister Krifca encouraged them to remain engaged in the small businesses they have started and assured them that they will always have the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The ceremony of awarding 28 certificates of competency to all women and young people that have attended the training on the circular economy project, was followed by a demonstration of the process of making solid herbal soaps with natural ingredients.
