PRISTINA, May 5 /ATA/ President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani said that the adoption of the Declaration for Missing Persons is a step forward in the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations.

She made this statement in an interview with the BBC, during her stay in London, where the Coronation Ceremony of King Charles III will take place on Saturday.

President Osmani has sought the support of the UK and other allied countries of Kosovo for the implementation of this agreement reached on May 2 between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

“I believe that the last week has been quite successful, especially in a particular issue, which is the adoption of the Declaration for Missing Persons who have been forcibly disappeared during the war, it is an issue that I have pushed forward and as Kosovo we have invested in this because there are over 1,600 families still looking for the whereabouts of their loved ones who were kidnapped and went missing during the war, and for this reason we count on additional support from the UK, which is one of the main countries to support us,” she said.

“The declaration has been adopted, implementation is crucial and unfortunately Serbia is not recognized as a country for implementation. But I hope that with the help of allies we can close this deep wound of our society and that mothers have a place where they can place flowers for their missing children,” she said.
