The main investment that has boosted the development of agriculture across the area is reconstruction of Janjari canal, a major work which entails the reconstruction of 60 kilometers starting from Janjari Lake to Konispol, to improve irrigation for 4500 ha of agricultural land, from 1200 ha it covered before.

Also, this investment serves as a safety valve for farmers because it tackles the flooding problem once and for all.

“It had not seen any intervention from 1988-1989 when it was completed. The investment also includes the rehabilitation of the gate, the embankment and the spillway,” Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kote said.
Kote said that today there are about 1 thousand ha planted with fruit groves, to be precise about 500 thousand trees that produce 40 thousand tons of tangerines and oranges from 30 thousand fruit trees several years before.

He added that agriculture is not developed only by providing subsidies and technical assistance to farmers, but also by building agricultural ring roads, drainage canals like this work which includes 60 kilometers of pipeline and canal worth USD 10 million to irrigate 4500 ha of land.”
