TIRANA, June 22 /ATA/ The new neighborhood “KombinArt” is taking shape day to day to house the families left homeless by the devastating November 2019 earthquake.

Following the unblocking of the process which came to a standstill for a while due to several litigation cases, the development of the area is in full swing with new 6 and 8 –floor buildings and access infrastructure for 21 thousand new residents under construction.

The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that the reconstruction process is running faster to catch up on the work delayed due to litigation.

“We will not cease working even in summer! We will work faster to make up for lost time. When I say to make up for lost time, I mean that the story of Astir and “5 Maji” neighborhood repeated itself even here in Kombinat. We have been in over 20 litigations and suspension of works incited mainly by political parties that live in Lalz, but are willing to get people into disputes, to sow uncertainty and spread fake news. We have won all the cases! As you saw, the whole territory of the Kombinat area has been freed up and we have started from scratch. In some parts the works have advanced to house the first families this year, ” said Veliaj.

The mayor assured that the earthquake-affected families will continue to receive the rent subsidy until they move into the new apartments.

Reconstruction work is also ongoing in rural areas. Veliaj assured that within this year reconstruction will be completed.

“So far so good in other rural areas. When you have a large, state-owned field, of course the work runs faster. When politics meddles with the process, of course the work slows down due to court cases. We will soon inaugurate the new houses in the new village in Zall-Herr to continue with Peza and Baldushk,” he added.
Kombinat will be a new pole in the capital, not only with new apartments for earthquake-families. All apartments are up to the standards, intertwined with urban squares, educational facilities, which significantly increase the quality of life in this new neighborhood.
