PRISTINA, April  3 /ATA/ The trial of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, has opened on Monday at the Hague-based Kosovo specialist chambers.

In the trial hall they pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against them.

The former leaders of the KLA are indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity, during the war in Kosovo in 1998/99.

They are held in the pre-detention center in The Hague since November 2020.

In their initial arraignment hearings, they pleaded not guilty.

The act of indictment against them was confirmed in November 2020 and then changed on September 3, 2021, April 29 and September 30, 2022.

On Monday, while the court session is ongoing, near the Special Court building, Albanians of the Diaspora are staging a peaceful protest to show their support for the defendants and the KLA’s war. /KosovaPress/sm/
