The US embassy in Albania announced on Wednesday that Ambassador Kim met with Prime Minister Rama today in advance of his visit to Washington DC. They discussed Albania’s strong, principled support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s aggression, including as a NATO Ally and at the UN Security Council where the U.S. is proud to work alongside Albania as “co-penholder” on Ukraine issues. Ambassador Kim underlined that the fight against corruption is a top priority for the United States, noting that the onus of responsibility is naturally greater on those governing. The two also discussed the importance of strengthening democratic institutions, historic progress in deepening our defense relationship, and next steps to boost U.S.-Albania trade and investment.
