Ambassador Kim welcomed Brigadier General Lisa Hou from the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and highlighted that she is the first female commander of the New Jersey National Guard in its 250-year history.

She noted that women leaders are shaping the future of Albania and their efforts matter to all Albanians, especially young women who look to them as role models.

She also praised the work of Albanian women supporting the country on a global stage, such as at the United Nations Security Council, where Albania co-authored with the United States last week’s historic resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Ambassador Kim encouraged Albanian women leaders to support each other and to also mentor young women who will continue to advance gender equality.
