TIRANA, January 23/ATA/ In Himara, there is being implemented the KfW-funded project for the construction of the sewage network and a treatment plant, while the main part of the works is expected to be completed before the beginning of the tourist season.

Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Karl Bergner closely inspected this construction site today while he appreciated that the project is an important step towards improving the quality of life and environmental conditions in Himara.

“The new sewage system will significantly improve the quality of water in the beaches of Himara. In the future, only the processed and clean water will be poured into the sea, an important contribution to the protection of nature”, is read in a press release of the German embassy in Tirana.

“The local economy and tourism in Himara will benefit from the clean water project, but it will also be beneficiary to the health and well-being of the local residents. This is a good example of successful and long-term German-Albanian cooperation for sustainable development”, is read further on in the press release. /m.m/p.s./
