TIRANA, Feb 11 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday that “the new justice institutions lack constructive criticism and identification of their shortcomings.”

“They are confronted by those who have been eagerly waiting for the new justice system, or the barbaric, denigrating, and destructive attacks from a segment of public opinion led by the enemies of the Justice Reform, from the old owl of the swamp, and all the ‘quack-quack’ followers who join in,” added Rama during a live communication on social media.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister stressed that the space for constructive criticism is vacant.
“There’s no regret for our silence these past five years, but it’s likely that in light of the latest developments, our silence has been misunderstood—not only by the enemies of the justice reform or the many commentators who wish us dead, but also by some beneficiaries of the reform. Despite the very special privileges granted to them by the reform, the actors of the new justice system, starting from the prosecution and the special courts, now enjoy privileges far greater than anyone else. People talk about the salaries of MPs, but they don’t compare to theirs,” added Rama.

“Of course,” the Prime Minister continued, “there is no institutional system that is flawless.”
On the other hand, the Prime Minister reminded that the institutions of the new justice system are the most privileged and supported. “The funds allocated to these institutions, 99.9% of which come from taxes,” said Rama.

TIRANA, Feb 28 /ATA/ The High Inspector of Justice, Artur Metani, received in a courtesy meeting the delegation of the Center of the Rule of Law of Finland, headed by the former Minister of Justice of Finland, Tuija Brax.

The High Inspector of Justice introduced the interlocutors to the role and functions of the HIJ, as one of the new institutions of the Justice Reform, which aims to restore citizens’ trust in the justice system, by encouraging better work standards from prosecutors and judges.

“A magistrate should not only be responsible for compliance or non-compliance with legal norms, but should be accountable to people, society and state institutions, directly influencing the public perception and trust in the justice system. The level of trust of citizens in the justice bodies is a very important element for the justice system, as it is an important indicator to evaluate how the justice system and the rule of law work in a country,” said Metani.

Brax explained that the purpose of this organization is to connect Finnish expertise and experience on the Rule of Law with national and international institutions that can benefit from it.
