TIRANA, July 11 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Friday that tackling illegal construction across the country requires the full engagement of all state institutions, as well as the support of the justice system to uphold and enforce the law effectively.

During a meeting with municipal mayors on local performance as part of the “Albania 2030” vision and the country’s path toward EU membership, Rama emphasized that this is a daily battle that cannot be won without cross-institutional cooperation.

“This is a daily battle, and if all the links don’t work—and above all, if the independent justice system is not available to support this effort and enforce the law—then this effort will occasionally take this shape, until everyone understands that there is no benefit to be gained from illegal construction,” Rama stated.
The Prime Minister also commented on the interventions to demolish illegal constructions in the Theth area, emphasizing that concrete steps have been taken toward legalizing older buildings and developing the region.
