TIRANA, March 15/ATA/ Under the auspices of President of the Republic Bajram Begaj and the First Lady Armanda Begaj, there was held at the venues of the president’s office the activity “Woman – the soul of our ethnographic treasures”.

The activity focused on the contribution of the Albanian woman to the Albanian cultural and ethnographic heritage. In this context, there was opened a photographic exhibition supported by the President’s institution under the title “Jubletta, Albanian, universal, eternal” by the well-known photographer Ergys Zhabjaku.

In his speech, President Begaj said that, “The material and immaterial treasures of the Albanian national heritage are our root, they are the identity without which we would not have this vitality that has protected us spiritually even in the dark times of history”.

“Enrich school curricula and encourage and increase interaction with children from the first grades on our cultural heritage,” said President Begaj.

At the end of the event, the president awarded the title of “Grand Master” to the well-known ethnographer, prof. dr. Venus Onuzi.

In the motivation for Mrs. Onuzi’s title, it is stated: “For the extraordinary contribution to the study of the cultural heritage of the Albanian people; for the invaluable work in the field, in the study, collection and documentation of the Albanian ethnographic wealth, contributing to the recognition, preservation and promotion of the values of the Albanian national identity.”

For her part, Onuzi thanked President Begaj for the evaluation of 52 years of work. “I consider this evaluation as honor and respect for the cultural heritage of our people,” Onuzi said. /m.m/r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, November 30/ATA/ After isopolyphony, Albanian sleeveless woolen dress or the jubletta (xhubleta) is our next intangible heritage to be safeguarded and promoted by the UNESCO. The invention of jubilant clothing, which dates back 4 thousand years, is now the property of all mankind.

Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed his congratulations this morning at the news of the UNESCO including in the Safeguard List of the Albanian Jubletta as a world cultural heritage which coincided with the 110th anniversary of the country’s Independence.

Minister of Culture Elva Margariti participated yesterday in the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguard and Promotion of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, which took place in Morocco.

In the video published by Rama, Margariti called it extraordinary news for our cultural heritage and as a gift on the 110th anniversary of Independence.

“From the capital of Morocco, the Intergovernmental Community for the Safeguard and Promotion of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, unanimously approved the declaration of the Albanian Jubletta and its inclusion as part of the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage under the protection of UNESCO” , said Margariti.

The minister emphasized that, “This asset for the country could be lost. But we didn’t allow Jubletta to remain simply a relic of the past, and with its inclusion in this list, it will have the support not only of our institutions but also of international ones, which will treat Jubletta as an asset to all humanity”.

The minister said that we have come to this moment after a long work, full of dedication of a large group of co-workers and finally the file of jubletta handicrafts was accepted in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage under the protection of UNESCO.

Jubletta, typical clothing of the northern areas, is regarded as one of the rarest popular costumes, with several types and characteristics, cutting and sewing, according to the areas and ages of the women who used to wear it./p.s./

TIRANA, September 30/ATA/ The Albanian jubletta is not just a dress, it is a rite, a centuries-old culture, a tradition.

Wearing a jubletta was not just a daily routine and therefore, the TI Center realized the installation “The rite of wearing a jubletta” which was exhibited yesterday, in the premises of the National Historical Museum, in the framework of the National Day of Cultural Heritage.

The installation exhibition “The Rite of Dressing the Jubilee” is a project of TI CENTER and is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the National Historical Museum.

Attending the event were Minister of Culture Elva Margariti, the EU Ambassador to Albania Luigi Soreca, the Director of the National Historical Museum Dr. Dorian Koçi, personalities and art lovers, culture and journalism.

Jubletta is a bell-shaped bottom, which comes wavy especially on the back. It consists of a large number of pieces.

In the XVIII century, the jubilee consisted of many colors, but the ones that have come down to us today are: black for women and black and white for girls.

Jubletta is of ancient origin. It bears similarities with the clothing of some Neolithic figurines found in Bosnia, but also in other parts of the Mediterranean, which belong to the second millennium BC and are associated with ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

Jubletta and the Highlands is the clear heritage of the Illyrian origin of our culture, which the highlanders conveyed until the years 1950-1960, so it is one of the identifying elements of the Albanian folk costume, through motifs, where the emblem for all is the eagle. /k.s//a.a/p.s./

Margariti appreciated this as an important moment for the preservation and transmission from generation to generation, but also for the promotion of our cultural heritage beyond local borders.

She thanked the local communities that proposed and insisted, but also the partner The_AADF who, as she said, “supported us to advance this initiative, which for us is a mission.”

Jubletta enjoys the masterpiece status of the Ministry of Culture and the file has been completed in record time for UNESCO as an endangered heritage.

Minister of Culture Elva Margariti spoke during a meeting on “Women in Cultural Heritage, material and immaterial, from the lullabies to the know-how on jubletta”.

“We put it in a file at risk because it is a phenomenon at risk. At the moment we are aware of this stage in which it is located, we would lose much more if they did not take this step now, from danger it would turn into a lost phenomenon”, said the minister.

Specialist Luljeta Dano stressed that “the jubletta enjoys the status of a masterpiece by the Ministry of Culture and the event of the year is the dossier that is being prepared and is being completed in record time for UNESCO as an endangered heritage”.
