Prime Minister Edi Rama has published on his social media account an image of this tower, which after damage from the 2019 earthquake was restored by the European fund EUCulture.

” After a major restoration of the Venetian tower of Durrës thanks to the support from the European fund EU4Culture, a technological program of the journey through the treasures of our cultural heritage has been installed,” Rama says.

This wonderful monument of our cultural heritage and landmark of the city of Durrës underwent restoration with the support of the EU-funded EU4Culture Project, which was executed by UNOPS in close cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.

The restoration works included installation of multimedia equipment with a budget of €700,000 and an additional €300,000 was invested in the development of multimedia content.
With the support of the project, the Venetian Tower has been transformed into a state-of-the-art Heritage Interpretation Center.
This center offers visitors the opportunity to explore historical events and places through various digital and multimedia tools, such as VR headsets, digital periscopes, multimedia dome projections and other activities that combine entertainment with a deeper look into the ancient history of the city.
