French expert for this project Jérôme Lebars is currently attached to the Korça Prefecture to oversee its development for more than a year.

Today, in the venues of Korça Prefecture there was held the final meeting of the Committee for the preparation of the relevant project package on opening of Franco-Albanian Lyceum.

Attending the meeting were French Ambassador to Albania Catherine Suard and Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro.

The lyceum project package is being prepared through a collaboration between central and local institutions with the French government expert Lebars.

Prefect Nertil Jole wrote in the social media that the Prefecture has closely supported the work of the French expert and has coordinated the cooperation between central and local institutions to guarantee the successful progress of this project.

“This very special project is in context of the long-standing friendship between our two countries. The establishment of this important educational institution will open a new perspective for many young people in our region and beyond. They will have the opportunity to attend an elite school with European standards for their secondary education”, wrote Jole. /k.s/j.p/p.s./

On the sidelines of this meeting, Prefect of Korça Nertil Jole received in his office Ambassador of the Republic of France in Tirana Catherine Suard and Pierre Raynaud, Counselor for Cooperation and Culture at the French Embassy in Albania.

To carry out the task assigned by the prime minister, the Prefect’s institution is supporting the French expert and closely assisting the process, ensuring also cooperation of institutions at the central and local level.

Jole said that the progress of this important project for our city will be presented to President Emmanuel Macron during the upcoming meeting of the European Political Community due to be held in Tirana on May 16 with European leaders.

“This project is in the course of the tradition and friendship between our two countries and will expand the space for a new perspective for many young people from our region and beyond, who in the future can choose an elite school for their secondary education”, appreciated Prefect Jole. /m.m/a.f/p.s./

Prefect of Korça region organized the work together with the National Civil Protection Agency after the breakdown in the 110 kV Guri Kuq-Përrenjas transmission line, which passes through difficult mountainous terrain and with a large amount of snow.

The brigades of Albania’s electricity transmission system (OST) of Korça, Elbasan and Tirana worked for two days, locating the defect in Çervenaka, at an altitude of 1300 m above sea level and where in some areas the amount of snow reached over 1.5 meters.

Prefect Nertil Jole said that he requested the assistance of the National Civil Protection Agency to open the blocked road. Jole thanked the director of agency Haki Çako for the immediate reaction and the dispatch of a vehicle with chains from the Armed Forces to open the road.

Meanwhile, Director of OST Korça Elton Përmeti said that only the Guri i Kuq-Përrenjas line remains without power, not due to defects but because the voltage poles are covered with ice. /j.p/p.s./

Prefect of Korça said that the Civil Emergency units in the Municipality of Korça have taken measures and are continuously working to remove snow from the road and to salt it.

“The road that connect the city of Korça with the mountainous areas are all passable, however, drivers should exercise increased caution and be equipped with winter tires and chains when traveling to these areas with high snow presence”, Nertil Jole wrote in the social media.

Although the smallest in the country, Pustec Municipality has a great potential for attracting more local and foreign tourists, helping at the same time the community economy.

“The creation of even more favorable conditions for the town of Pustec and the surrounding villages to develop according to a sustainable ecological vision is the new challenge of the municipality’s team, with the support of other institutions”, said Prefect Jole in a post in the social media where he also shared a photo album from the beginning of Pustec’s tourist season. Jole wrote that the government’s investment in the important water supply project realized for this municipality in the amount of 455 million ALL has solved one of the most urgent needs./p.s./

Jole said that, “The relevant structures will also remain in constant monitoring of every road to guarantee that the movement of vehicles is carried out without problems”.

“Under the conditions of snowfall and low temperatures, drivers must be rather careful when traveling to our region and be equipped with winter tires, reduce speed, respect the traffic signs and instructions of the Traffic Police”, Jole emphasized.

However, Prefect Jole added that, “Even during this weekend, despite the weather conditions, our region remains a favorite destination and this is confirmed by the reservations in the hotels in Korça, Voskopoja, Dardha, Pogradec, Kolonja, etc.”

The experts of the Institute of Geosciences forecast snowfall today in the southeast of the country at heights above 300 m above sea level. Meanwhile, on Sunday there is expected frosts, mainly in the mountainous areas. /k.s/p.s./
