TIRANA, June 30/ATA/ The strategic partnership between Italian maritime leader Fincantieri and state-owned KAYO marks a major milestone for Albania’s defense industry. Prime Minister Rama highlighted that the agreement will establish specialized vocational training and create hundreds of new jobs in naval construction.

“We are here today to mark a new chapter for the Pashaliman base. Together with leaders from the global shipping industry, we are proud to launch this strategic partnership between Fincantieri and KAYO”, said Rama.

He stated the agreement opens a new era, merging human capital with a multimillion-euro entrepreneurial venture.

“We are in the midst of a defense industry revival. The Fincantieri partnership is a critical first step, but it certainly won’t be the last as we rebuild our military manufacturing base”, Rama added.

According to the head of government, this enables an end-to-end defense supply chain, producing everything from basic gear to advanced technology.

“Central to this model is ‘Kayo’, a new state-owned enterprise representing public and national interests. Kayo ensures the Albanian state is both a legal and financial participant in these strategic partnerships”, Rama added.

The prime minister emphasized that this paves the way for mutual economic benefit between the private or public partners of the company and the company itself that represents the state.

Rama assessed that by preparing a new wave of local specialists to support the Pashaliman maritime hub, this agreement significantly strengthens the strategic partnership between Albania and Italy.

“Recently, we have made the breakthrough shift of centralizing the management of state assets and services through dedicated agencies. This transition ensures public resources are managed efficiently, improving service quality while delivering a clear economic return for the state”, he added.

Rama emphasized that this strategic partnership is generating 500 new roles, creating immediate opportunities for skilled professionals in the region.

“The new system brings 500 well-paid jobs, and we don’t have to look far to start. With Vlora’s local talent and the students at ‘Pavarësia’ Industrial School, we have the human resources we need to hit the ground running. Through this selective program, students will gain hands-on experience at a major Italian shipyard, working directly with the company’s master shipwrights”, stated Rama.

Rama considered this good news for Vlora and for our vocational education. /a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, February 28/ATA/ Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja stated today that TEDA Tirana, which will be developed on an area of 35 hectares, is expected to reach a value of 100 million euros. And it will create the conditions to develop industries such as automotive, pharmaceutical, ICT, Hi-Tech, high-precision equipment, robotics industry, technological production, etc. These are estimated to generate over 7 thousand quality jobs, with high salaries.

At the signing ceremony of the agreement between “TEDA Tirana”, the Free Economic Zone of the Municipality of Tirana, and the Israeli company “H.A.P.I Advanced Technologies LTD”, which will make a significant investment in digital technology, Gonxhja pointed at the fact that the right-wing government in 2009 also attempted to establish economic zones, but they failed.

“TEDA Tirana is not the first ambitious project for a free economic zone. The previous government “inaugurated” not one, not two, but nine free economic zones or industrial parks on paper, while in reality the result: zero employees, zero income, zero development, zero infrastructure, zero investments in those 9 zones”, stated the minister during the ceremony where Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present.

According to him, the bankruptcy of that model based on electoral votes and the uncritical use of territory and resources was the offspring of pathetic amateurism and delirious optimism, in a shameless Albania, where ignorance was rampant throughout the militant government.

According to the minister, TEDA Tirana is not the only one. Gonxhja added that it will be complementary to another technological and innovative park that is also on the path to materialization, “Durana Tech Park” in Xhafzotaj.

Gonxhja added that the government aims to turn Albania into a country with modern infrastructure, a single-digit unemployment rate, consolidated production, a labor market strengthened by innovative curricula and professional training, as well as a country where no one is left behind, with high incomes for all, close to the European average, with consolidated contributions to social security and decent pensions. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, February 6/ATA/ The 2-year extension of the deadline of the Albanian law on strategic investments is expected to increase investments in the country by an estimated 2.7 billion euros and open over 24 thousand new jobs.

Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja wrote in the social media that, “The deadline for obtaining the status of “Strategic investor,” has been extended until December 31, 2026″.

According to him, this decision approved by the Parliament gives investors new time and opportunities to apply under the Law “On Strategic Investments in the Republic of Albania” and to undertake significant investments in potential sectors of the country’s economy.

Gonxhja stated that this law also carries stricter monitoring of projects for greater security and implementation, improved legal framework for greater transparency and efficiency as well as dedicated support for foreign and domestic investors.

Tourism is among the priority sectors as 75% of the value of strategic investments come from foreign investors; then, there is energy and infrastructure with a focus on innovative and sustainable projects.

“This law not only creates a more favorable climate for investors, but also strengthens the country’s economic development prospects. With an improved legal framework and an increased commitment to transparency and efficiency, Albania continues to be a competitive destination for strategic investments”, said Gonxhja.

TIRANA, April 18 /ATA/ The Municipality of Tirana and the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation signed the cooperation agreement for the Technology and Economic Development Zone (TEDA Tirana), which is located between Kashari and Vaqarri. This space is another development of strategic importance for all foreign businesses that want to invest in Tirana, mainly in the field of information technology, vehicle production and tourism. Not only does the agreement pave the way for infrastructure construction, but it also paves the way to the first calls for businesses that want to apply to become part of the economic zone.

Mayor Erion Veliaj underlined that Tirana is the first municipality to create a free economic zone, setting the model for many other municipalities to follow.

Veliaj assured that TEDA will generate about 7 thousand new jobs related to new technologies. “Today, we compete with Skopje, Northern Greece, Southern Serbia and Montenegro. In this sense, we will have to show why Tirana is the best and why Tirana is the place where we should invest”, emphasized Veliaj.

On his part, Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja underlined that this area represents a strategic initiative, which should serve as a catalyst for innovation, investments and sustainable development.

Through TEDA Tirana, the government and the municipality of Tirana have created a station, where an international company only needs to present itself to the implementing body, to become part of it./r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, April 24/ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy Delina Ibrahimaj participated in the business forum, organized this afternoon at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana.

In her speech, Ibrahimaj said that, “This very important forum will serve us as a platform to exchange ideas about the work we have done, but also to share our common challenges, such as Business Climate, Productivity and Human Capital”.

“We are living in a world without borders, where human capital circulates rapidly, where the concept of work has changed radically, where technological developments are influencing enterprises to increasingly aim for growth and sustainable models, of increasing productivity, but also of developing human capital that require long-term strategies based on the knowledge economy. Albania cannot be an exception to these developments and therefore we are working hard to address all the challenges”, said Ibrahimaj.

“We must design policies aimed at creating a favorable environment where businesses can grow, find new markets and further train their human capital, so that it does not leave, but remains the most important investment that businesses can do. Therefore, it is no coincidence that today we have decided to combine this very important Forum with the Job and Skills Fair, an excellent opportunity for employers to interact with job seekers, explore opportunities for developing their skills and careers. There are over 1,200 job vacancies being presented at this fair by 35 companies, of which 15 are foreign,” Ibrahimaj emphasized.

“The job offer cannot be seen only here, but all job seekers can go to the e-Albania platform and portalitpuna.gov.al, where there are currently about 3,300 vacancies,” she added.

“The businesses that are today at this Job and Skills Fair are the best example of how entrepreneurship has been transformed, how companies are developing and finding ways to be as competitive as possible in the internal and external market, in sectors such as: technology, industry, services, etc., where the average salary is around 110,000 lekë”, underlined Ibrahimaj. /gj.m/r.e/p.s./
