TIRANA, January 12/ATA/ The Jezerca Peak, which is located between the Valbona Valley and the Shala River, has become a destination for nature enthusiasts in recent years.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in social media a view of a group of climbers to the Jezerca Peak in these early days of January, while the mountain is covered by a white blanket of snow.

“The Jezerca Peak, the highest in the Alps National Park, is being explored every day by enthusiasts after unique experiences among wild nature in the heart of the Alps,” Rama wrote.

In the first days of January, the Albanian Alps National Park, one of the most attractive and fascinating territories of the Albanian lands with numerous natural beauties and great tourist resources, is being visited by mountain climbing enthusiasts.

But even during the year we left behind, this park was one of the most visited by domestic and foreign tourists in the 12 months of 2024.

During 2024, Thethi, Vermoshi and Boga were visited by 457,965 visitors, of whom 256,290 were domestic and 201,675 were foreign. While the Gashi River, the Valbona Valley and the Tropoja Valley were visited by 177,447 tourists, of whom 102,548 were domestic and 74,597 were foreign.

The Albanian Alps lie north of the Drin River and west of the lower reaches of the Valbona River (a branch of the Drin). They include the northern part of the country and occupy about 8% of it.

The Jezerca Block lies in the center of the Alps and has the highest, roughest and steepest relief. There is the peak of Jezerca 2694 m, the highest in the Alps and the second in Albania, after the peak of Korabi.

TIRANA, August 7 /ATA/ The Albanian Alps, with their fascinating beauties, are attracting more and more the attention of local and foreign tourists.

Minister of State for Service Standards Milva Ekonomi shared today on social media photos of the wonderful views from Jezerca tarns.

“The beauty of nature is the tarns of Jezerce at an altitude of over 2600 m”, wrote Ekonomi.

The tarns are located on the northern side of the Jezerca mountain, in a small valley surrounded by high peaks, which starts in Jezerca and ends in Vuthaj and further down in Guci (Black Mountain) where it joins the Vermoshi River.

As can be seen from the photos, the Albanian Alps are the most attractive and fascinating territories of our country, with many natural beauties and great tourist assets.

There are 30 glacial lakes all over the Albanian Alps, but the group of Jezerca tarns is incomparable.

These lakes are typical alpine. During the winter, they all freeze. Some of the lakes are 3-4 meters deep, while others are quite shallow. Despite the fact that they are located on limestone formations, they hold water for a long period even in the summer season.

In recent years, the influx of tourists to visit this area has been steadily increasing. The peaks of Jezerca mountain seem to reach the sky, as the stunning beauty is reflected in the glacial lakes that offer a fabulous tranquility and spectacular natural scenery.
