PRISTINA, January 22 /ATA/ On the 24th anniversary of the second attack by Serbian forces on the Jashari family, Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti together with Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajrulla Çeku paid homage on Saturday morning to the “Adem Jashari” Memorial Complex in Prekaz.

Kurti said that on the 24th anniversary of the second attack, they pay homage to their graves, but at the same time the prime minister said that he would also see emergency interventions in the Jashari Tower House.

On this occasion he stressed that it is an institutional, social and national obligation for the Jashari Tower to be maintained as that is the pearl of glorious history and at the same time of painful history.

“Today, on occasion of the 24th anniversary of the attack on Jashari on January 22, 1998, we came to pay homage to their graves and at the same time to see how emergency interventions are being made in the Jashari Tower, so that this building is not degraded, but protected. Today is 24 years since the numerous police and military forces of Serbia attacked the Jashari tower for the first time during the liberation war and we have an institutional, national and social obligation to maintain this object of the special history of Kosovo and the Albanian nation in general because it is a pearl of our glorious history and at the same time of painful history”, said Kurti.

Serbia’s third attack on the Jashari family took place on March 5, 1998. After a three-day war, 20 members of the Jashari family fell heroically, including the legendary KLA commander Adem Jashari. / KosovaPress /p.s./
