In his opening remarks at the event, Tirana Mayor said that the film premiere also marks “a sprint” in the bilateral relations between Albania and Great Britain.

“We have been through extremely difficult situations in the wake of two devastating earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is time for us now to reopen, it is time to celebrate, get to know friends, start afresh and it is time to recover. Through this initial joint event, not only we introduce the new British Ambassador, but also launch a season of events, with the today’s movie premiere being just the beginning,” Veliaj stated.

Mayor Veliaj added that Tirana will host around 1000 various events, many with them with Great Britain, as Tirana is declared the European Youth Capital for 2022.

British Ambassador in Tirana Alastair King-Smith said in his remarks that the film premiere marks just the beginning of a future stronger cooperation between Albania and Great Britain.

“We are starting with one of the best movies representing British culture in order to bring Albania and Great Britain as closer as possible, not only at the government level, but also at people to people contacts. That’s why we will explore the opportunities to build stronger and closer ties between the two countries,” Smith said.

The world premiere of James Bond film “No time to die” was held in London 18 months after its planned screening due to the pandemic restrictions.
