Vata/ The Democratic Party head, Lulzim Basha, held a meeting on Tuesday with the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, Piero Fassino.
Basha emphasizes that the meeting focused on the process of European integration, a process which is fully endorsed by DP.
“Italy has been and continues to be the main supporter of Albania’s EU accession. We discussed European integration, a process which is fully endorsed by DP. Without EU integration, we will not be able to achieve European living standards. I acquainted Mr. Fassino with the priorities of the Democratic Party such as the fight against corruption that is eating away at our economy and welfare, as well as creation of conditions for free and fair elections, for which the Commission for Electoral Reform was set up at the request of the Democratic Party. Also to guarantee a better service for the citizens, we have enabled the establishment of a commission for territorial reform and a new administrative division,” he said.
Basha says that the meeting touched on regional issues, the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the mutual agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
“We also discussed developments in the region. The situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina requires a swift, bold and coordinated response from EU member states, to address all pending issues in the region, such as the agreement on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia. It is in the best interest of every country in the region to leave behind the past and to cooperate for a better future for all, ” says Basha.
