After the meeting, Tabaku expressed gratitude to the Italian counterpart for Italy’s support for Albania’s European Union integration process and the assistance in approving the pensions deal between the two countries.

Speaking at a joint press conference, the main opposition Democratic Party lawmaker voiced to main concerns: the opposition’s irreplaceable role in the country’s political process and the need for fair and free elections. She said that the opposition should be granted more room in Parliament and become active participant in the check and balances.

“Albania undoubtedly belongs to the European Union, Albania geographically lies in Europe and on behalf of the opposition I confirmed that Albania has no other future but this EU integration process,” Tabaku said.
