TIRANA, August 16/ATA/ The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, paid a visit to Istog, where he also visited the graves of the martyrs who fell in the war for the freedom of Kosovo.

In an interview with Kanali10 television, Berisha stated that the process at the Special Court in The Hague is being conducted without any shred of evidence.

“So far, I have not read a single evidence against those who led this war and who are today in the dock. I hope that this process will confirm, sanction their innocence and the role they played. They led a liberation war,” Berisha emphasized during the interview.

Berisha said that, “The liberation war of the people of Kosovo is the brightest page in the history of the Albanian nation since the wars of Skanderbeg until today.”

“That war made the Albanian nation free, but it made the Balkans and Europe more just and free. In this context, nothing can overshadow the historical contribution of the freedom fighters”, he said.

Berisha took the opportunity of being in Istog, the hometown of Ibrahim Rugova, to hold him in high esteem.

“It is the great man of this nation who took the just cause of the people of Kosovo, the cause of their freedom and independence, from the barracks of the Democratic League of Kosovo in Prishtina to the Oval Office, to the highest offices of the USA”, Berisha emphasized in his interview for the Kosovo media. /m.m/ /a.g/p.s./
