Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca announced that apart from the measures taken in the period January-May 2023, for setting to operation the main irrigation canals, monitoring is also being carried out during the last sweltering weeks, in order to sustain the water supply at the maximum capacity of these irrigation canals, which enable the supply for the second and third canals that cover with irrigation about 100,000 ha of agricultural land.

Also, Krifca emphasized, the Irrigation and Drainage Directorates are working nonstop to repair 27 pumping stations as well as clean up the main drainage canals, to enable an optimal drainage infrastructure before the start of the rainy season, preventing flooding of agricultural lands and ensuring a good production season for our farmers in the upcoming months.
