According to the decision made at a regular cabinet meeting, six army officers will be sent to Baghdad to join NMI, a non-combat advisory and capacity-building mission that assists Iraq in building more sustainable, transparent, inclusive and effective armed forces and security institutions in Iraq.

Albanian army officers will train members of the Iraqi Joint Staff College in Baghdad, contributing to staff training in operational planning, military decision-making, cyber security training, and first aid training.

The mission’s duration is two years.

The Council of Minister decided at a regular meeting on Wednesday to dispatch two servicemen of the Albanian Armed Forces to join the FOB UNION III Headquarters in the NATO mission in Iraq.

The two servicemen will be tasked with advising Iraq’s security institutions and officials on human resource management, analyzing training needs and identifying gaps as part of lessons learned.

The three-year mission will take part on six-month rotation basis.

The meeting took place in the light of strengthening Iraq-Albania economic cooperation.

“During the meeting, the participants discussed the focus of AIDA in helping investors and providing opportunities to conduct further meetings, serving as a bridge between Albanian and Iraqi enterprises,” the Albanian Investment Development Agency said.

The parties will be in further communication to continue cooperation and implementation of projects. //a.i/
