TIRANA, Nov. 1 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Sunday renewed his invitation to students and academic staff taking part in ongoing protests to enter into dialogue, saying the government was ready to consider their proposals and address their concerns.

Rama took to the social media to share image of a stone table set up outside the prime minister’s office, bearing the inscription “Dialogue.”

Protesters have so far rejected the invitation, demanding the prime minister’s resignation and vowing to continue their demonstrations.

Rama has repeatedly said he is willing to examine any proposals put forward by students and academics. The government is also preparing a package of measures to address their needs, aiming to translate public concerns into concrete decisions and support.

Protests were held again on Saturday outside the Ministry of Education and the prime minister’s office, where clashes between police and demonstrators and incidents of violence were reported. Main opposition Democratic Party lawmakers and members also joined the demonstrations.

TIRANA, October 30 /ATSH/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama renewed his invitation for dialogue with protesting students and lecturers, expressing readiness to review their proposals and address their grievances.

On social media, Rama shared images of a stone table—symbolizing a traditional communal gathering place—put in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, bearing the inscription “Dialogue.”

However, the protesters have so far rejected the invitation, demanding the prime minister’s resignation and signaling that the protest will continue.

The prime minister has consistently stated that he is prepared to consider any proposals from the students and lecturers. Meanwhile, the government is preparing a package of measures to address their needs, with the aim of ensuring that listening to citizens renders into concrete decision-making and support.

According to him, the 2027 budget also carries additional measures to support families, public services and students.

Furthermore, Rama warned that any attempt to incite urban terror or religious division, or to undermine Albania’s tradition of tolerance and harmony, will be met with accountability.

TIRANA, Oct. 23 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama renewed his call for dialogue with protesters on Friday, placing a sheet bearing the word “dialogue” on stone benches.

“I am once again extending an invitation to dialogue and reaffirming my readiness to meet anyone who seeks and believes in dialogue,” Rama said.

“I am ready to meet them anywhere, at any time, if they believe Albania should be better and that it can become better through civility, an exchange of views and the confrontation of even sharply opposing opinions.

“Violent opposition, opposition through force, and opposition that defies reason cannot override the need for dialogue, for an exchange of views, however divergent, and for democratic coexistence in a country where the past has no chance of returning,” he said.

Alliance leader Ardian Gjini said Haxhiu had no mandate to act as a “unifier of the political spectrum” because she was not an elected president.

“You and Kurti are not seeking a meeting to find a solution. You are seeking a meeting to find someone to blame for a decision you have already made – to take the country to elections,” Gjini said in a letter to Haxhiu.

He accused the ruling Self-Determination Movement (LVV) of deliberately delaying the crisis until a suitable date for new elections, saying the Alliance would not provide an “alibi.”

Gjini said the Alliance had set six conditions for resolving the crisis, including support for a U.S.-backed gas pipeline, procedures for a new coal-fired power plant, changes to the VAT threshold, tax exemptions for cultivated land, funding for major road projects and 800 million euros to 1 billion euros for infrastructure in Prishtina.

Haxhiu has invited party leaders to a consultative meeting on Aug. 18 to discuss political developments and seek agreement on a consensus presidential candidate.

Kurti has urged parties to discuss concrete candidates, saying this could avert new elections.

The Alliance and the Democratic Party of Kosova (PDK) are calling instead for parliament’s constitutive session to resume. The session began on Aug. 6 but was suspended amid a lack of political agreement.

The crisis followed June 7 elections held after parties failed to agree on a successor to President Vjosa Osmani.

LVV won 53 seats, PDK 22, the Democratic League of Kosova (LDK) 18 and the Alliance for the Future of Kosova (AAK) seven.

If parliament fails to elect a president in three rounds, it is dissolved and new elections are held.

PRISHTINA, January 21 /ATA/ President Vjosa Osmani appreciated the invitation of US President Donald Trump to join the Gaza Peace Board a development of historic significance for Kosovo.

Osmani said that Kosovo has received the invitation as a founding member and that it will offer its experience in state-building.

She said that Kosovo’s participation in this multilateral organization led by the US strengthens Kosovo internationally.

“This is a development of historic significance for the Republic of Kosovo. First of all, this is an international organization, it is Kosovo’s membership in an international organization and as one of the founding members of this organization. Second, this organization is founded by the United States of America, our strategic ally, and thirdly, because the United States has selected Kosovo among several founding states, considering Kosovo’s experience in state-building. I have accepted with great pride this personal invitation from President Trump. Even though we are a small country, Kosovo can make a great contribution to the realization of these goals. I am working closely with the White House so that our contribution is concrete and significant”, she said.

The head of state of Kosovo said that the invitation she received and the documentation attached does not mention any payment, but it is left to the member states to do this voluntarily.

“Kosovo is one of the greatest American successes. One of the greatest successes of the Euro-Atlantic alliance in building peace. We have something to offer in terms of experience, perspective and vision for such an initiative. It is important that Kosovo will be equal and has been invited by the founder and leader of this organization, the United States of America. It is an achievement of our international empowerment and the alliance with the US”, she added.

Osmani made these comments after the memorial academy to mark the 20th death anniversary of the historic president of Kosovo Ibrahim Rugova. /KosovaPress/p.s./

TIRANA, Sept 23 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday invited foreign investors to explore opportunities in Albania’s infrastructure and energy, highlighting these as key sectors for foreign direct investment in the country.

Speaking at the “Albania, A New Frontier” conference held in Vienna, Austria, with the participation of business representatives from over 25 countries, the government head put emphasis on the ongoing and planned investments in road infrastructure.

“We are undertaking several major infrastructure projects, particularly in road construction, which are open to private sector involvement and toll-based partnerships,” Rama said. “We are currently developing a number of additional projects that may be of interest to foreign investors.”

He noted Albania’s strategic geographic position as a factor driving increased mobility and tourism, which he said would make road infrastructure a vital area of development.

“With growing European tourism and greater mobility overall, we expect a significant increase in traffic flows – both domestically and across borders. Roads will be an essential part of this expansion,” Rama said.

Railways also present investment potential, although Rama acknowledged the sector is more complex and less accessible to private companies.

Turning to energy, the Premier said Albania has launched international calls for private investment in the sector.

TIRANA, Dec 27 /ATA/- The State Minister for the Relations with Parliament, Taulant Balla, also the Socialist Party’s political delegate for the Diaspora, called on Albanian expats to return back home and invest in the country’s agritourism sector under the government’s recent “Mountain Package” initiative.

Posting a video on the social media during a visit to the rural area of Kukes, northeastern Albania, Balla urged the Diaspora to take advantage and invest in the tax-free Mountain Package initiative as an opportunity to revive private family land and properties by transforming them into agritourism establishments and contribute to the country’s economic development.

“Streamlined legalization and certification procedures for the properties you inherit from our parents and grandparents. Our invitation to all expats to together turn Albania into a successful model of mountain tourism,” Balla said in his message.

At meetings with local residents in Albania’s north, Prime Minister Edi Rama has referred to his government’s “Mountain Package”, an initiative aimed to encourage Albanian emigrants to return and invest in their homeland.

With tourism gaining prominence in Albania, the initiative aims to attract emigrants to invest in the country’s largely untapped mountainous landscapes and tourism potential.
