TIRANA, May 7 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the chairman of the Socialist Party, made an overview of all investments in the Durrës region to assess the progress made across the area.
In the electoral meeting held in Fushë-Krujë, Rama mentioned that discussions tend to stray from the facts making claims—such as the lack of roads in villages and the underinvestment of rural infrastructure. According to Rama, the Durrës region has seen a total of 596 projects valued at nearly a quarter of a billion euros, with 362 kilometers of internal roads rehabilitated across the entire region.
“We have 99 urban transformation projects, worth 81 million euros, that have turned Durrës and Krujë, which we found in disarray, into historic and tourist destinations. Meanwhile, with the changes we’ve implemented, the transformation is striking, and Shijak, once a swamp, is now an urban area up to the standards,” said Rama.
“Tourism and environment: The government has allocated 30 million euros for 14 projects aimed at tourism and environmental improvements in the Durrës region, while 116 water supply and sewage projects have received a total of 200 million euros,” he added.
The Prime Minister also focused on investments in the energy sector, pointing out that the quality of energy distribution has been a persistent issue. In the Durrës region, Rama said, 177 million euros have been invested in 121 projects aimed at upgrading and enhancing the electricity distribution network.
“Agriculture has 130 projects with 50 million euros in support that the government has provided to farmers and the sector in the Durrës region,” said Rama.
“Education has certainly seen significant improvement, largely thanks to the reconstruction efforts. With 191 projects, the new schools in Durrës, Krujë, and Bubq meet European standards. We are committed to ensuring that every child has access to a school of high standards,” stated Rama.
The Prime Minister also spoke about 14 investments in sports, totaling 5.8 million euros, and added that the project for the construction of the new stadium in Durrës will transform the city into a new sports and urban hub .
“Culture includes 39 projects and 17.6 million euros for cultural activities, while healthcare and social services have been allocated 13.6 million euros,” said Rama. /j.p/sm/
