Rama said that “the Korçë-Ersekë road, Lot 2 is an infrastructural investment of great importance for road traffic, but also for the economic and touristic development of the area.”

“The works have progressed at a fast pace and currently more than half of the axis of the Korçë-Ersekë road is open, avoiding the travel via the old axis and shortening the distance,” emphasized Rama.

The road, under the contract, will be delivered at the end of 2023, but works will be completed by June 2023.

The Korçë-Ersekë road axis was 45 kilometers long, while with the completion of the new segment, the distance is reduced to 35 kilometers.

The construction of this road promotes tourism development of southeastern Albania by bringing closer two areas with a lot of potential, such as Korça and Erseka.

The works on this road, which was in obsolete condition due to underinvestment, as part of an investment worth 3.7 million euros, have kicked off in December 2020.

This 14.5 km long axis helps both the agricultural and agro-tourism sectors.

The investment on the road which follows the old trail that has been built by the Italians in 1920 entails all technical elements of road safety.

The road not only facilitates the movement, but also enables easier and faster access of the local products and its connection with the tourist economy of the coast.
