TIRANA, Feb 24 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama reaffirmed Albania’s steadfast support for Ukraine as he addressed an online Ukraine Support Summit on Monday, an event marking the third anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war.

In a video address, Rama underlined that today’s summit was tackling only half the problem, namely the military aspect, while overlooking the broader political consequences of US-Russia talks.

He underlined the need for balanced attention to both military and diplomatic solutions.

“How Ukraine would be efficiently supported and how Europe as a continent can be efficient in defending itself and in making the best out of something that is going on, a negotiation between Russia and the United States of America,” PM Rama asked in his remarks.

“We have been for a long time in the American autopilot. Now the autopilot is seeming off and nobody knows for how long. I think it is time for a deeper reflection than what we will do in terms of military support or military spending. For sure it is very necessary, but it might not be enough,” the government head stated.

Rama concluded by reiterating Albania’s commitment to Ukraine.

“There is no doubt we stand by Ukraine in every decision made by global powers,” he stated.
