TIRANA, Oct 22 /ATA/ – The 6th International Watercolor Biennale in Tirana is drawing large crowds of art lovers and organized school visits, offering a vibrant celebration of watercolor painting.

More than 200 artists from 50 countries have contributed works that will be exhibited at the Tirana Art Gallery until October 30, inviting visitors on a journey through light, water, and color.

Curated by renowned Albanian painter Helidon Haliti and organized by the cultural association VIZart, this edition goes beyond a traditional exhibition. It is a living expression of spiritual communication where the delicate, poetic technique of watercolor transforms into a universal language celebrating friendship, trust, the beauty of the world, and the human spirit.

Many participating artists have visited Albania, immersing themselves in the country’s culture, traditions, cuisine, natural landscapes, and soul, which they masterfully capture in their art. They return to Tirana as ambassadors of art and affection for the country.

Part of the international platform “Mediterranean Bridges,” the Biennale is supported by the Municipality of Tirana and the Ministry of Culture, positioning the city as an open gateway for intercultural dialogue. This year’s event notably featured artists from Egypt, particularly talented faculty from Alexandria University of Arts.

A special “Nostalgia” corner pays tribute to veteran Albanian artists, masters who have illuminated and guided the country’s visual arts heritage across generations, offering a reflective space to honor their legacy.

Helidon Haliti describes the Biennale as a bridge connecting memories, visions, and artistic experiences beyond borders.

At the opening ceremony, honorary awards were presented to distinguished artists, including Ardian Isufi for “Best Avant-Garde Artist” and Nestor Jonuzi as “Master of Watercolor.” The prestigious “Ismail Lulani” award, named after a foundational figure in Albanian art, was presented by his daughter Ormira Lulani.

The Watercolor Biennale in Tirana is more than an event – it is an emotional and visual journey where each artwork opens a window into another world, offering a deeply human and shared story.
